A series of lectures opening the books
of the new testament delivered by
John Metcalfe from 1994 to 1998
in The Hoare Memorial Hall, and
subsequently in The Synod Chamber,
Church House, Westminster, London.
The Hoare Memorial Hall was used as the House of
Commons at various times during the Second World
War. Many of Sir Winston Churchill’s renowned war
time speeches were delivered in this Hall. The famed
Assembly Hall is used as the Synod Chamber of the
Church of England as occasion requires.
